The Vertigo Hotel

Originally the York Hotel, this site was famously used by Alfred Hitchcock in the movie "Vertigo" including the iconic shot of the hotel's staircase seeming to stretch.  In recreating the York as The Vertigo Hotel, Schoos decided on a whimsical reinterpretation of the period style and furnishings, retaining the original moldings, columns and flooring and adding period-inspired modern elements.  The iconic movie poster was used as inspiration for the color orange and artwork featuring geometric "swirley" patterns.  See the Case Study in the Stay section for more insights!
